It was cries of tragedy on Friday, 24 May 2019, at Borokini Aga area of Ikorodu Lagos, as the body of a couple and their youngest child was found lifeless in their apartment.
The deceased father of the house, late Mr. Charles is allegedly the culprit of the murder, after which he also took his own life.
One would wonder the cause of such a demonic move from a simple family setting. This horrific act has been attributed to a reoccurent tension in their home about the paternity of their also deceased youngest child. Mr. Charles was said to have constantly accused his late wife of infidelity which he believes, resulted in the birth of their youngest child.
Neighbours believe it was one of those days of such paternity disputes that could not be contained, leading to the murders. The incident happened before day break on Friday. Mr. Charles had murdered his wife, the little child of about six years, then hung himself, sparing the lives of two older children whom he believed are his biological children.
The older children narrated that they were all in house with their parents and had all gone to bed with their parents, only to find them lifeless in the morning. They also explained that they were fast asleep and heard nothing during the night.
The stabbed corpse of the wife, late Mrs. Faith and strangled corpse of the child were taken to the mortuary by police inspectors whilst the corpse of Charles was left behind as instructed by the community leaders. The reason being that they insisted some Africa rituals, synonymous with that community has to be performed to avert re-occuence of such deaths or havoc in the community.
A curfew was mandatory for 11pm that night, so that the rituals could be carried out.
