These have been one of my favourite treats since I tried out the recipe. An Australian classic that has now travelled across continents, these no-bake goodies are crunchy, chocolatey, and irresistibly delicious. 

I'll be sharing the recipe of Australian Chocolate Rice Crackles with my own twist.

INGREDIENTS FOR CHOCOLATE RICE CRACKLES

● 3 cups - Rice krispies or any brand of crunchy puffed rice cereal. 

● 100g quality chocolate slab

● Date syrup - Adjust to taste preference. Recipe HERE for homemade date syrup/sweetener.  
》》 If your choc slab is really sweet, you can skip adding dates syrup. 

● 1 cup toasted coconut shavings (homemade)

● A pinch of salt

● 1/2 cup mixed berries/fruits granola - slightly crushed to match the size of the rice krispies

● 1/3 cup melted homemade coconut oil - My preference is homemade for that rich perfumery aroma of coconut oil.

● A rectangular roast dish. I've used a 50 mm (height) X 296 mm (length) X 178 mm (width)  
■■ A dessert tray can also work.

● 2 mixing bowls & spatula

● Baking paper (Parchment paper)

HOW TO MAKE AUSTRALIAN CHOCOLATE RICE CRACKLES

1) Line the rectangular glass dish with baking paper. Set aside. 
 
2) Over simmering water, double boiler method, melt together: coconut oil, and chocolate slab in the mixing bowl.

3) Once melted, add date syrup/powder as desired, mix till combined. Set aside to cool, but not solidified.

4) In another dry mixing bowl, add the crunchy puffed rice, toasted coconut shavings, crushed granola, and pinch of salt.

5) Add the cooled melted chocolate mixture to the dry ingredients.

6) Mix gently but thoroughly to incorporate ingredients together.



7) Pour mixture into the lined rectangular dish  and lightly press down to shape.

8) Referigerate until firm and set. This takes about an hour.

9) Cut into squares and enjoy. 

TIPS TO STORE CHOCOLATE RICE CRACKLES

You can store in an airtight container and store in the fridge. 

HOW LONG SHOULD RICE CRACKLES LAST AFTER MAKING?

It should be consumed within 10 days. 
It's really nice, and might be finished in one sitting.
