Tiger Woods bags his 15th major win and his fifth "Masters" at the 2019 Masters Tournament on Sunday, 14 April 2019.

It is great triumph for Tiger - a magical come-from-behind win for him as a player who had not won a major championship since his personal life began to unravel on Thanksgiving night in 2009, when a marital dispute led to a car accident and a succession of lurid tabloid headlines.

On the golf course, he had a series of back and leg injuries that led to an addiction to painkillers and degenerated in more intense pain which led to a spinal fusion surgery in 2017.

Many questioned whether he could play professionally again. He also had doubts. But after surgery he began a new lease on his career.

Mr. Woods said in a television interview after the game was over that:
“It’s overwhelming just because of what has transpired, to now be the champion — 22 years between wins is a long time — it’s unreal for me to experience this. It was one of the hardest I’ve ever had to win just because of what’s transpired the last couple of years.” His price money is 2.07 million USD according to CNBC.

This is a very inspirational come back considering all the set backs, ridicule and backlash he has faced in recent years. Serena Williams, Mr. Obama, Mr. Trump, Nike (the brand) have sent congratulatory messages to the champion.
