Motorists In Traffic For Seven Days - The Longest Lasting Traffic Jam Yet

As unbelievable as this might sound, it is actually a situation that has allegedly been existing.

This is allegedly, the record breaking situation in Agbor, Delta state, Nigeria. Motorists, mostly truck drivers, who seem to have no choice but to travel this route, apparently said that they spend up to seven days in traffic on a designated trip.

The stagnant traffic is attributed to the badly damaged road that has been deeply broken along the way, and the flood makes the situation even worse.

Acknowledgement to Lucky Udu, who took his time visiting this dilapidated road to speak to the distressed motorists.

Some of the motorists could be seen with numerous mosquito bites, tired eyes, low morale and an unkempt appearance. Who would not be in such a state given the circumstances?

Wondering how much the truck drivers got paid to endure such situation, one of the truck drivers disclosed that their monthly income, as at the day of the interview, is approximately five thousand Naira (12 USD). On hearing that, I literally leaped off my seat in anxiety on his behalf .... Deep sigh!

According to the books, there is an active government in all Nigerian states, including Delta state where this is allegedly happening. There is a governor, local government chairpersons and workers. It is of priority that this situation be attended to, urgently.

Do note that, Nigeria also have decent cities and beautiful areas too. That being said, the dilapidated areas need urgent attention and maintenance.
