Nigerian, Giannis Antetokounmpo (Adetokunbo) Awarded Most Valuable NBA Player


Greece born Nigerian, NBA star, Giannis Antetokounmpo has been awarded the "Most Valuable Player" in NBA.
Giannis nominated amongst the likes of Paul George of the Oklahoma City Thunder and James Harden of the Houston Rockets, won the award. He received 941 points and 78 first-place votes in the balloting.

It was an emotional night as Antetokounmpo shed tears of joy as he receives his award.


The proud parents of Giannis are Charles and Veronica Adetokunbo. They migrated as a family to Greece in 1991 for newer opportunities. 

Antetokounmpo instead of Adetokunbo became his surname after it was spelt that way on his Greek passport instead of his parents' last name, "Adetokunbo."
